(Exceptions apply for minor adaptations of existing works.)\r\n\r\nWe recommend having works peer reviewed and revised prior to any copy editing of the work.\r\n\r\nAuthors are encouraged to use an <em>open peer review<\/em> process whereby the author and reviewers can directly discuss changes and adjustments to benefit student learning, and the reviewers can receive recognition for their contributions in the book information metadata (instructions below).\r\n<h2>The Peer Review Process<\/h2>\r\n<h3>Sharing Unpublished Works with Reviewers<\/h3>\r\nOnce someone has agreed to complete a peer review, give them access to your unpublished work using one of the following methods:\r\n<h4>Option 1: Add Peer Reviewer as a Contributor to View the Work<\/h4>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Add the peer reviewer as a \"Contributor\" to your work in the Pressbooks software (see: <a href=\"https:\/\/openbooks.macewan.ca\/authorsguide\/chapter\/adding-users\/\">Adding Users<\/a>). Ensure\u00a0each chapter is set to \"Show in Web\" from the <strong>Organize<\/strong> page <span style=\"font-size: 1em;\"> in the left side menu of the book's dashboard so that they can see it.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"font-size: 1em;\">Once this is complete, the peer reviewer will be able to log in and view the work from the <\/span><strong style=\"font-size: 1em;\">Organize<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1em;\"> page.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h4>Option 2: Send the Peer Reviewer a PDF Copy<\/h4>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Log into your book administrator dashboard and ensure\u00a0each chapter is set to \"Show in Exports\" on the <strong>Organize<\/strong> page<span style=\"font-size: 1em;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li>\u00a0Go to <strong>Export<\/strong> and export a PDF copy of your work in its entirety to email to the peer reviewer.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h3>Review Criteria<\/h3>\r\nSend reviewers the following open textbook review criteria to help guide their feedback. Feel free to modify this criteria as needed to ensure useful input on your specific work.\r\n<ol>\r\n \t<li><strong>Comprehensiveness:<\/strong> Does the text adequately cover the topic(s) addressed?<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Content Accuracy:<\/strong> Is content error-free and unbiased?<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Relevance:<\/strong> Is content up to date, but not in a way that will quickly make the text obsolete within a short period of time?
