MacEwan University is committed to providing affordable, accessible and relevant teaching materials to its students. With this in mind, MacEwan Open Books<\/a> was launched as a pilot project in 2019 with support from MacEwan University Library, the Students’ Association of MacEwan University (SAMU), and the Office of the Provost.<\/p>\n The service opened to all MacEwan faculty and staff members interested in open textbook creation in June of 2022.<\/p>\n Works hosted by MacEwan Open Books are done so in accordance with the service’s Terms of Use<\/a>.<\/p>\n Open textbooks reduce barriers to education by providing students with low or no-cost learning materials in a variety of online, accessible formats.<\/p>\n They also benefit instructors by providing opportunities to easily create new content, and adapt, refine and enhance existing materials to meet learners’ needs.<\/p>\nWhy Are Open Textbooks Important For MacEwan University?<\/h2>\n
