Overview: Small Intestine Sinew Channel (Arm Taiyang)

The Small Intestine Sinew Channel and associated anatomy
-
- The Small intestine sinew channel begins on the lateral aspect of the fifth digit and travels with abductor digiti minimi to bind near SI 4. It continues up the posterior lateral aspect of the forearm with extensor carpi ulnaris, crossing the lateral aspect of the elbow between the olecranon process and the lateral epicondyle. Here it binds to the lateral epicondyle. (Anatomy: Abductor digiti minimi, Extensor carpi ulnaris, Anconeus)
- The Small intestine sinew channel continues up the posterior aspect of the arm via the triceps to bind on the humerus and scapula. (Anatomy: Triceps brachii)
- It then travels across the scapula with the infraspinatus and teres minor to bind to the medial aspect of the scapula. (Anatomy: Infraspinatus, Teres minor)
- From the medial border of the scapula, it will travel along the fibers of the rhomboids in a cranial and medial direction to bind to the spinous process of C7-T5. A deep branch will diverge here and travel under the fibers of the rhomboids along the upper borders of the 2nd-5th rib and bind to the spinous process of C6-T2. (Anatomy: Rhomboids)
- At this point, the Small intestine sinew channel will cross the midline of the body and travel to the opposite side of the occiput via the splenius cervicis and capitis on the other side. (Anatomy: Splenius cervicis, Splenius capitis)
- This channel will finish by traveling around the ear and through the auricular muscles and to the corner of the eye. (Anatomy: Posterior, superior, and anterior auricular muscle)
